1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They let the site remember your actions and preferences, recognise you on return visits, and collect information about how you use the site.

We also use similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage. For simplicity, in this policy we use “cookies” to mean all of these technologies.

2. Why we use cookies

We use cookies to keep the site working and safe, to remember small choices (like light or dark mode), to see which pages help people and, only if you say yes, to measure our ads. No tracking or ad cookies load until you agree.

3. Categories of cookies we use

We group cookies into four types. You choose which ones to allow in the cookie banner. Necessary cookies are always on.

Necessary: needed for the site to work and stay secure, including the record of your cookie choice. Always on.

Preferences: remember small choices you make, like light or dark mode.

Analytics: help us see which pages work so we can improve them. Off until you say yes.

Marketing: help us measure whether our ads work. Off until you say yes.

4. The services we use

If you say yes, these services may set cookies. Each has its own privacy notice and may process data on servers outside South Africa. Framer, which hosts this website, also counts page visits for every visitor, without setting cookies.

Google Analytics (Google), Analytics: shows us how people find and use the site.

Google Ads (Google), Marketing: measures whether people who see our Google ads visit the site or sign up.

Meta (Facebook) Pixel (Meta), Marketing: measures whether our ads on Facebook and Instagram work.

Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft), Analytics: shows us where people click and scroll, without names, so we can fix pages that confuse people.

5. How long cookies stay on your device

Session cookies end when you close your browser. Other cookies stay for a set time, never longer than 24 months. We keep your cookie choice for up to 12 months, then ask again.

6. How to manage cookies

When you first visit, a banner asks what you allow: Accept all, Essentials only, or Customise to switch Preferences, Analytics and Marketing on or off one by one. No analytics or ad cookies load until you choose. You can change your choice at any time: tap Cookie settings at the bottom of any page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

7. Lawful basis (POPIA)

Where a cookie processes personal information, we rely on your consent (section 11(1)(a) of POPIA) for preferences, analytics and marketing cookies, and on legitimate interest (section 11(1)(f)) for necessary cookies.

8. Your rights

You have the same rights over cookie data as over any other personal information we process. See section 12 of our Privacy Notice at wrdo.co.za/privacy.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The date at the top tells you when it was last revised.
