1. About these terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the website at https://wrdo.co.za and any subdomain, and the WRDO service on WhatsApp that connects residents with independent local workers (together, "the Service"), operated by WRDO (Pty) Ltd, trading as WRDO™ ("WRDO", "we", "us", "our"). By accessing the site, messaging WRDO on WhatsApp, or creating a worker profile, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
These Terms are in addition to, and not in substitution for, our Privacy Notice, which is available on the site, and our PAIA Manual, which is available on request from [email protected]. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (“CPA”) or other law that cannot be excluded.
2. Who we are
WRDO (Pty) Ltd is a private company incorporated in the Republic of South Africa under the Companies Act 71 of 2008 with Enterprise Number 2026/095904/07, trading as WRDO™. Our registered address is Val de Vie Estate, R301 Jan van Riebeeck Drive, Paarl, 7646, South Africa, and you can reach us at [email protected].
3. Changes to these Terms
We may amend these Terms at any time by posting an updated version on the site. The version in force is the one with the most recent effective date. Your continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
4. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or have the legal capacity in your jurisdiction, to use the Service. Workers must have the legal right to work in South Africa and must provide information that is true, accurate and their own. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to: use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in any way that violates South African law (including the Cybercrimes Act 19 of 2020, POPIA, PAIA, the ECT Act and the CPA); attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service, our systems, or other users' accounts; introduce viruses, malware or any other malicious code, or carry out denial-of-service activity; scrape, copy or otherwise extract content from the Service by automated means without our prior written consent; infringe any intellectual property right or any other right of a third party; post or transmit content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, obscene, hateful, or that infringes another person's rights; harass, threaten or discriminate against other users, or post false vouches or reviews; circumvent the platform to avoid its rules — for example, using WRDO to find a worker and then arranging off-platform specifically to dodge cancellation rules or verification; impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity; or use the Service in a way that could damage, disable, overburden or impair our systems or interfere with other users.
6. The WRDO service
6.1 WRDO is a platform. We connect residents who need work done with independent local workers, facilitate the conversation and booking, and help with verification, payments and reputation (vouches and ratings). WRDO is not the employer of workers and is not a party to the agreement between a resident and a worker — the contract for the work is between them directly.
6.2 Workers keep 100% of what they earn. WRDO takes no commission or cut of a worker's earnings.
6.3 Bookings. A booking is confirmed when both the resident and the worker have accepted the job details through WRDO. Confirmed means committed — both ways.
6.4 Cancellations. Either side may cancel with reasonable notice via WRDO. Late cancellations — including cancelling at or shortly before the agreed start — may attract a cancellation fee, charged to the cancelling party in accordance with the cancellation rules communicated at the time of booking. This applies to residents and workers alike. A worker who fails to arrive for a confirmed booking without cancelling affects their standing on the platform and may be removed.
6.5 Payments. Payment for work is made by the resident to the worker — in cash or through supported payment methods. Online payments are processed by third-party payment providers under their own terms; WRDO does not store full card details. Any processing costs charged by third-party providers are disclosed before payment.
6.6 Verification and vouches. Verification (criminal, background and business checks) is optional and performed by third-party verification partners with the worker's consent. A verification badge means the worker passed the relevant checks at the time they were done — it is not a guarantee of the quality, safety or outcome of any work. Vouches and ratings reflect the opinions of other users, not WRDO's own assessment. Residents remain responsible for their own judgement when choosing a worker and for supervising access to their property.
6.7 Cover. Workers may opt in to cover arranged through third-party cover providers. Cover is subject entirely to the provider's policy terms, limits and exclusions — those documents, not these Terms, govern any claim. WRDO facilitates access to cover but is not the insurer.
6.8 WhatsApp. The Service runs on WhatsApp. Your use of WhatsApp is also governed by WhatsApp's own terms. WRDO is not affiliated with or endorsed by WhatsApp/Meta.
7. User accounts and profiles
Some parts of the Service may require you to register an account or profile. You must provide accurate information, keep your access secure, tell us immediately if your account is compromised, and accept that we may suspend or terminate accounts or profiles for breach of these Terms.
8. Intellectual property
All content on the Service — including text, graphics, logos, images, audio, video, code and software — belongs to WRDO or our licensors and is protected by South African and international intellectual property law. We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for your personal or internal business use. No other right or licence is granted. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease or create derivative works of any part of the Service or its content without our prior written consent.
WRDO™, World Ready Digital Operator™, "As you are"™, echo™ and the WRDO spiral mark are trade marks of WRDO (Pty) Ltd. Other trade marks displayed on the Service belong to their respective owners.
9. User-submitted content
If you submit content to the Service (including profile photos, descriptions, vouches and reviews), you confirm that you own it or have the right to submit it; you grant WRDO a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, transferable licence to use, reproduce, adapt, publish and distribute that content as reasonably necessary to operate and improve the Service; and you accept that we may remove or moderate content at our discretion.
10. Third-party links and integrations
The Service may contain links to or integrations with third-party websites, plugins, applications or services (including tools such as Google, Microsoft, Xero and Sage that you choose to connect). We do not control and are not responsible for the content, terms or privacy practices of any third party. Your interaction with a third party is governed by that party's terms and privacy policy.
11. Availability and changes to the Service
We aim to keep the Service available but we do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free or secure access — WhatsApp outages, connectivity issues and maintenance happen. We may suspend, withdraw, modify or discontinue all or part of the Service at any time without notice. We are not liable for any loss arising from such suspension or change.
12. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, the Service and its content are provided "as is" and "as available". WRDO makes no warranties, representations or undertakings, express or implied, regarding the Service, including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, fitness for purpose, non-infringement or merchantability, and no warranty as to the quality, safety or outcome of any work performed by a worker. Any reliance you place on information from the Service is at your own risk.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any right of yours that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under the CPA, the ECT Act or other applicable law.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, WRDO and its directors, employees and agents will not be liable to you for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, loss of profits, loss of revenue, loss of data, loss of business opportunity, or any similar loss, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service — including the acts or omissions of workers or residents, the quality or outcome of work performed, or any booking, cancellation or payment dispute between users.
Our total aggregate liability to you arising out of or in connection with the Service or these Terms will not exceed an amount equal to ZAR 1,000.00 (one thousand rand) or the fees you paid WRDO (if any) in the preceding 12 months, whichever is greater. Nothing in this clause limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability arising from gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless WRDO, its directors, employees and agents against all claims, losses, damages, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees on an attorney-and-own-client scale) arising from or in connection with your use of the Service, your breach of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party right.
15. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms or applicable law. Termination does not affect rights or obligations that by their nature should continue, including clauses 8, 12, 13, 14 and 18.
16. Privacy and personal information
Our collection and use of personal information through the Service is governed by our Privacy Notice, available at wrdo.co.za/privacy, and our Cookie Policy (available on request from [email protected]). We process personal information in accordance with POPIA. By using the Service you confirm that you have read the Privacy Notice.
17. Disputes between users
If something goes wrong between a resident and a worker, tell WRDO first — we will assist in good faith to resolve it, though the underlying contract remains between the users. Consumers also have rights under the CPA, including recourse to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud and the National Consumer Commission.
18. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. You and WRDO submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Western Cape Division of the High Court of South Africa (sitting at Cape Town) for any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service, subject to our right to bring proceedings in any other court of competent jurisdiction.
19. Electronic communications
By using the Service you consent to receive electronic communications from us. Any notice we give you under these Terms may be sent to the email address or WhatsApp number you provided, and any notice you give us must be sent to [email protected]. Electronic signatures and records satisfy any legal requirement for a signature or writing, in accordance with the ECT Act 25 of 2002.
20. General
These Terms (together with the Privacy Notice and the PAIA Manual) are the entire agreement between you and WRDO regarding the Service. If any provision is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force. Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of that right. You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms without our prior written consent; we may assign these Terms freely. Headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation.
